Our Book Is With The Editor!

As some of you know, we relocated from Tokyo to Vancouver, BC, earlier this summer, which understandably threw some speed bumps into our writing process. Luckily, thanks to a friend with a mountain cabin sitting empty due to COVID-19 travel restrictions, we were able to spend some focused time writing. We're delighted to say that we've officially finished the Interest Driven Life book's core writing parts!

After that, we did the first round with an editor, followed by several weeks working on revisions and updates. As we type, it's currently out of our hands and going through the final copy edit. Yes, this is as exciting and nerve-wracking as it sounds.

There's a little bit more work to refining the activities that we have created to accompany the book, and we're in the process of finalizing the cover design. Thankfully Sean has lots of experience doing that, having designed numerous covers for books and records over the years.

We reached out to quite a few authors who we know to ask about the differences in self-publishing or going with a traditional publisher, and rather quickly, it became clear that in today's world and the overall current situation, there's very little reason not to self publish. So we're going that route—it will be available through Amazon soon, and we have plans for a super swanky hardcover edition in the new year.

As soon as we finalize the release date, it will become available for pre-order, and this is where we need your help. If you are planning on buying the book, we hope that you'll buy it as a pre-order because pre-orders count towards first-week sales, and the first week of sales will essentially make or break it. With high first-week sales, the book will get on marketing lists and promotions; without them, it will become buried in algorithm search hell. Asking stores to pre-order copies helps as well, but without the ability to do any public talks or book signing events, that's even harder than usual. Initial reviews are even more critical, but we'll talk more about that later. We are planning to do several live stream events leading up to the launch, and if you subscribe to Sean’s YouTube Channel, you'll be able to secure a spot at those.
